Tom Nomof completed his undergraduate degree in physics from U. C. Berkeley and his M. S. in physics from San Jose State University, earning a secondary teaching credential from San Jose State University as well. He has taught physics courses at Modesto Junior College since 2000.Before coming to MJC, he spent many years abroad teaching I. B. courses in chemistry, mathematics, and physics—five years at the American International School of Johannesburg and two years at the American Overseas School of Rome. Tom has also taught at U. C. Berkeley, San Jose State University and Archbishop Mitty High School. Since relocating to the Central Valley, Tom has spent two summers conducting research in particulates at U. C. Davis with the DELTA Group and regularly visits K-6 classrooms trying to inspire a love for physical science.

Outside of work, Tom enjoys backpacking with his two children, playing competitive tennis and traveling with his family.
